    An exciting opportunity to see the world as part of Total's Exploration and Production (E&P) team has arisen for senior engineers with strong experience and expertise in the required discipline. Our E&P team is active in 42 countries across the globe and current opportunities offer attractive, long-term contracts in various international locations on a family or rotational basis.

    Total plans the development of several bitumen deposits exploited by a variety of worldwide opencast mining operations. The most advanced project is Joslyn in Alberta (Canada). Total is looking to recruit a qualified and experienced Mine Equipment Maintenance Specialist to support the engineering of this exciting and groundbreaking project as a first assignment.

    As a Mine Equipment Maintenance Specialist, you will have opportunity to apply your significant experience to ensuring selection of specialist equipment is effective, appropriate and suitable for the job.

    You will play a key role in complex negotiation with manufacturers over proposed maintenance programmes, applying objective assessment and sound judgement to evaluating maintenance programmes, taking responsibility for supervising the design of maintenance shops and conducting ad-hoc studies related to all aspects of equipment maintenance.

    As the project progresses, you will also have responsibility for commissioning and operating the maintenance system.

    Training and skills

    * Will have an MSc, or equivalent, qualification in Mechanical Engineering, ideally with a specialisation in maintenance
    * Will be fluent in both spoken and written English.

    Experience

    * Will have significant experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly in o/p mining equipment maintenance.
    * Will have a high level of awareness of Health and Safety issues and be able to encourage good practice in others.
    * Will have some people management experience and the ability to motivate, inspire and lead multi-disciplinary teams

    * Will be able to operate flexibly and sensitively in multi-cultural teams and local environments.
    * Will be able and keen to travel the World and work in a variety of countries (especially Canada).
