    Career vacancy as Mining Engineer or Economic Geologist Germany

    The Federal Institute of Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) is a leading geoscience centre in Germany and, through research projects and technical cooperation agreements, has a global scope of activities. A key project of the Mineral Resource/Economic Geology Unit at BGR is the certification of mineral trading chains in conflict-affected and high risk areas in central Africa. In this context, BGR is looking for a

    Mining Engineer or Economic Geologist

    to join the BGR project "Mineral certification in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)". The project benefits from a close cooperation with various Congolese mining authorities and its implementation is controlled from both Germany and the DRC; the successful candidate will be based in Bukavu, DRC.

    Requirements
    * M.Sc. (or equivalent) in Mining Engineering, Earth Sciences, or another mining-related discipline.
    * Knowledge of the technical, environmental, and economic aspects of the mining sector.
    * Work experience in the mining sector of developing countries, in particular in artisanal mining.
    * Knowledge of international standards on best mining practice, and experience in their practical implementation.
    * Team player, comfortable to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment; consulting competence.
    * Good language skills (business level, written and oral) in French and English.
    * Standard office software skills; GIS knowledge a plus.
    * Physical ability to work in tropical areas.

    Responsibilities
    * Reporting to the project director, the successful candidate will carry out tasks related to the sub-project "Strengthening control of the mining sector on a decentralised level" within the frame of BGR project "Mineral certification in the DRC".
    * Provide expert advice and support to technical surveys of the Congolese Ministry of Mining with respect to the implementation of gold, tin, tantalum, and tungsten ore certification schemes in eastern DRC.
    * Provide expert advice and support to companies active in the mining and artisanal mining sector with respect to mining and mining management improvement plans, including field-based consult-ing activities.
    * Present project results and manage public relations activities.

    This is a temporary position to be filled ASAP and related to BGR project "Mineral certification in the DRC" which terminates on 30 April, 2012. Payment follows E 13 according to the tariff for public employees (TVöD) with additional payment for working abroad. BGR is an equal opportunities employer.     1. ASSISTANT MANAGER (AM), Based in Jakarta

    2. PROJECT MANAGER (PM)

    Qualifications:

    - Min. Bachelor Degree (S1) from reputable university majoring in Science/Economy & Engineering (No. 1); Min. S1 preferable Mechanical Engineering background (No. 2); Min. D3 preferable Mechanical Engineering (No. 3),
    - Overseas graduate will be an advantage (No. 1),
    - Male or Female, Max. 35 years old (No. 1 & 2); Male, Max. 25 years old (No.3),
    - Experience in Project Management is preferable (No. 1),
    - At least 5 years in experience in Marketing or Trading Firm business, knowing about Heavy Equipment business is an advantage (No. 2),
    - At least 1-2 years experience in procurement field, but fresh graduates are also welcomed (No. 3).

    - Excellent command of both written and spoken English,
    - Proficient in computer literacy (M/S Word, Excel, Power Point),

    PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR), a subsidiary of G-Resources Group, a HK based Limited Company, is developing the Martabe Project in North Sumatra, approximately 40 km south-east of Sibolga. Gold and silver ore will be mined by open pit methods using a mining contractor. A processing facility will be built adjacent to the pit to process ore at a rate of 4.5 Mtpa to produce approximately 200,000 oz of gold and 2 million oz of silver annually.

    1. BUSINESS CONSULTANT SUPERVISOR


    The position will report to the Business Development Superintendent. The incumbent for this role will be expected to assess and identify business management skills and knowledge development needs for client entrepreneurs and program consultants and create effective business consultancy.

    2. BUSINESS ANALYST SUPERVISOR

    The position will report to the Business Development Superintendent. The incumbent for this role will be expected to identify and analyse the new and on-going business process potential products and services under community business development to enhance and improve the fixed and applicable business opportunities for local communities.


    Candidates for those roles would be expected to have the following qualifications and experience:

    • Minimum 3-5 years experience in the area of development of local community business.
    • Formal qualifications in economic, finance, industrial engineering or relevant management disciplines.
    • Advanced knowledge in feasibility study, project management, business plan and general management.
    • Good understanding in business counseling.
    • Strong presentation & communication skills, including negotiations, analytical and conceptual skills
